Idiocracy President Camacho ads

For a few years now, writer-director Mike Judge and Terry Crews have talked about doing more with Idiocracy‘s President Camacho. Of course fans of the 2006 cult comedy are more than happy to see Crews return to the role, and we’ve seen him do so in a few Funny or Die videos. Crews and Judge were at one point discussing future opportunities for Camacho with Fox, and earlier this summer it was reported they were working on campaign ads for Camacho. Green Band Trailer

Trailers are an under-appreciated art form insofar that many times they’re seen as vehicles for showing footage, explaining films away, or showing their hand about what moviegoers can expect. Foreign, domestic, independent, big budget: What better way to hone your skills as a thoughtful moviegoer than by deconstructing these little pieces of advertising? This week we watch an unconventional approach to the coming of age yarn, be delighted by an unconventional approach to the coming of age yarn, come of age in an era of entrepreneurship, come of age as we manually remove landmines, and have the cops come bust down our coming of age party with military grade weaponry just cuz they can. COPS Movie

Just when you thought every possible TV show for Hollywood to turn into a movie had been exhausted, along comes this news. We all know the long-running FOX TV show COPS, if only for the catchy theme song that goes, “Bad boys, bad boys, whatcha gonna do, whatcha gonna do when they come for you?” The documentary show follows police officers as they pursue and apprehend small time criminals. Usually their collars are people illegally using or selling drugs, and sometimes those people try to run. And apparently that’s compelling enough to be turned into a feature film, and there’s even a director on board.

Ben Affleck Directing - Witness for the Prosecution

Ben Affleck has quite the busy schedule in the next couple years. The filmmaker is just coming off directing his adaptation of Dennis Lehane’s novel Live By Night, and he’s currently in production on Justice League. Then sometime down the road he’s supposed to be at the helm of a solo Batman movie in which he’ll obviously star as The Dark Knight. Now Ben Affleck has lined up yet another film to direct, and it’s another one that he’ll be starring in too.

Witness for the Prosecution is an Agatha Christie novel that was turned into a movie by Billy Wilder in 1957, and now Ben Affleck is slated to direct a new adaptation that he will also produce with his longtime friend and collaborator Matt Damon, as well as Jennifer Todd and the Agatha Christie estate. Toho, the company who created Godzilla, is looking to keep the renewed interest in the franchise going strong with a new animated movie, the first in the franchise’s 62-year history. Get the details on the animated Godzilla movie after the jump. Read More »
